Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kwesi Nyantakyi has expressed disappointment with the New Patriotic Party (NPP), accusing the party of abandoning him during his ongoing legal struggles stemming from Anas Aremeyaw Anas's "#Number 12 expose"
In an interview with Hot FM, Nyantakyi criticised the NPP for failing to support him as he faced corruption allegations, which he claims are baseless.
He revealed that his legal team advised him to distance himself from the party, adding, “Even during my prime time to contest the seat, it was an issue within the party. I thought that if I contested, they would have cancelled the court case.”
Nyantakyi lamented the toll of his five-year legal battle, describing it as emotionally and financially draining. “I haven’t spent any government money, I haven’t killed anybody, but I’m still in court,” he said.
The former football boss also highlighted his failed bid in the NPP Ejisu parliamentary primaries, where he secured only 35 votes. He remains uncertain about contesting again, as his legal challenges continue to overshadow his political aspirations.
The debate over Anas’s potential unmasking during court proceedings adds further complexity to Nyantakyi’s case.
