Ghanaian blogger and political commentator Boga Ali Hashim, also known as Mr. Impactful, has publicly addressed the controversy surrounding Sammy Gyamfi and Patricia Oduro Koranteng, commonly referred to as Nana Agradaa.
This follows the emergence of a viral video showing Mr. Gyamfi transferring an undisclosed sum of money, reportedly in United States dollars, to the former fetish priestess.
Mr. Impactful asserted that Mr. Gyamfi was allegedly manipulated by Agradaa’s charm into making this financial gesture publicly, urging the public to forgive him.
He suggested that the Sammy Gyamfi he knows would not have engaged in such an act under normal circumstances, hinting at the possibility of spiritual influence in his actions.
He wrote on X, “The Sammy Gyamfi I know would not have taken the actions he did if he had been fully aware of the potential consequences. It seems he was under a certain influence, particularly the charm that Agradaa possesses. Given this context, it might be fitting to consider extending forgiveness to him, as he was significantly impacted by Agradaa's sway.”
In response to the public outcry, Mr. Gyamfi issued an apology on May 11, clarifying that the monetary transfer was intended as a private act of kindness that inadvertently became public knowledge.
Subsequently, the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, summoned the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board, Mr. Gyamfi, following the circulation of the video.
Sources from the Jubilee House confirmed that Mr. Gyamfi has been asked to explain the circumstances surrounding the transaction, which has drawn significant public criticism and raised ethical concerns regarding the conduct of public officials.
The widely shared footage captures Mr. Gyamfi in what appears to be a personal interaction with Nana Agradaa.
The purpose and nature of the monetary exchange remain unclear; however, the optics of a senior public official giving money to a controversial religious figure have provoked considerable speculation and public backlash.
Critics have highlighted the video as potentially undermining President John Dramani Mahama's recently instituted Code of Conduct for Public Officials, which emphasizes principles of integrity, accountability, and transparency in public service.
This code was developed as part of broader initiatives to combat corruption and restore public trust in governmental institutions.
Sources indicate that the Chief of Staff is treating this matter with urgency due to its political sensitivity and potential reputational implications.
Nana Agradaa, who has claimed the role of a self-proclaimed evangelist, has been a divisive figure in Ghanaian society.
Previously known for her involvement in traditional spiritual practices, she has distanced herself from those affiliations and established a Christian ministry.
Her past legal issues and ongoing public controversies continue to attract scrutiny.
